Service call

SC541

Fusing thermistor open / low temperature

AFusingCommon field call

Level A — stop, SP reset after repair

First check

Unplug, cool 10 minutes, then look for a wrap, a glazed thermistor, and an open heater/thermostat. Do not keep resetting a live 541.

What it means

Center fusing thermistor reads below 0°C for several seconds, or the heater never comes up. The most common Ricoh service call. Machine stops; SC reset after the repair.
