Fusing unit replacement

01Cool and isolate

Main switch off, wall unplug, 10 minutes. Right door open.

02Release

Disconnect the fuser connector (lock tab). Release both side latches. Pull straight on the rails — if it fights you, a wrap or a screw from a previous tech is hanging it.

03Inspect the well

Look in the cavity for scraps, a loose thermistor cable, and the drive coupling. A scrap left in the well will wrap the new unit on page one.

04Install

Slide the new unit home until both latches click. Reconnect. Tug-test the connector. Close the door.

05Reset and prove

Power on. Enter SP5-810-001, execute, reboot. Let it hit ready. Three plain-paper prints, then a heavy-stock page if the site uses it. Reset PM for the fuser (SP7-804) so the next PM is honest.
