What it means

A drive motor in the paper path locked. Jam leftover is the usual cause; a dead motor is next.

Likely causes

• Jam loading the motor
• Worn motor
• Drive gear
• Fusing drive

1. 1Clear the pathOpen bypass, duplex, fuser, and all trays. Remove scraps. A 10 mm scrap in the fuser will throw 500/531/541 together.
2. 2Hand-turnPower off. Turn the transport / fuser drive. Hard spots → gear or bearing. Free spin + SC on boot → motor/driver.
3. 3ReplaceMotor or the gear that sheared. After fuser-drive work, check for SC541 on the next warm-up.
