What it means

Controller lost the Smart Operation Panel (or classic LCD). Black screen, frozen SOP, or ‘communication error’ on boot.

• Firmware mismatch

1. 1Soft reboot the panelOn SOP 2.x: hold the power icon on the panel or power the machine fully down (main switch + wall) for 30 s.
2. 2CablesReseat the panel harness. A service arm that was swung too far often nicks this cable on IM C.
3. 3SOP vs controllerIf the engine comes ready (fans, fuser) but the panel stays dark, try a known-good SOP. If the panel shows the splash then dies, controller/firmware.
