What it means

The exposure lamp did not light, or the SBU never saw white-level during shading. Scan/copy stops.

Likely causes

• Exposure lamp open or inverter/LED board dead
• SBU (CCD/CIS) harness seated poorly after ADF work
• Dirty white plate / shading plate
• Scanner motor never reaching shading position

1. 1Confirm the lampPower cycle. Start a copy with the ADF open and watch the lamp. No light → lamp/inverter. Light present → SBU path.
2. 2Reseat SBU cablePower off. Reseat the flat cable at the SBU and at the scanner I/F. Look for pinched FFC after an ADF swap.
3. 3Clean the white plateClean the shading white plate and exposure glass with approved glass cleaner. Toner film fools white-level.
4. 4ReplaceLamp/LED exposure unit, then SBU. After SBU replace, run scanner SP adjustments if the model requires them.
