Read SC history

The standing SC is rarely the whole story. History tells you what led up to it.

01SP5-990
Enter SP, SP Direct 5990. Read the last 10–20 codes with timestamps. A 559 sitting on top of three 541s is a fuser. A 672 sitting on top of 853 is a disk.
02Do not shotgun
One 990 after a jam is noise. A storm of 819/820 after a firmware job is a flash problem. Match the cluster, not the last number on the panel.
03Copy it out
Photo the history or write the last eight codes down. The next tech (or you, next week) will need it.
